James Dalton, 87, of Austinville VA, passed away, Monday, December 18, 2023. Born August 23, 1936, in Wythe County VA, he was the son of the late Hobert and Minnie Simpson Dalton.

He liked hunting, fishing and trapping. He loved to spend time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Terry Lee Dalton, sisters, Louise Walters, and Luva Jane Melton, brother Ed Dalton.

Survivors include his wife, Darlene Dalton of the home, son Jerry Dalton and wife Lisa of Beckley WV, daughter, Christy Carroll and husband Kevin, of Max Meadows VA, six grandchildren, Johnathon Carroll, Zackery Carroll, Matthew Carroll, Skyler Carroll, Justin and Jarrett Shinault, 5 great grandchildren, Izzy, Eli, Willow Carroll, Weslee and Ryelyn Shinault.

Funeral Services will be conducted December 20, 2023 at 7 P.M. at Reese Funeral Home in Austinville VA, with Pastor Jerry Alley, Steve Board and Hal Lewis officiating; burial will follow at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin VA on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 1 p.m. Johnathon Carroll, Zackery Carroll, Matthew Carroll, Skyler Carroll, Justin Shinault, Jordon Barnett will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call Wednesday, December 20, 2023 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Reese Funeral Home in Austinville VA.
