Janet Lynn
Payne
September 3, 1955 – February 24, 2026
Janet Lynn Payne departed her earthly dwelling, at the age of 70, to be at home with her Heavenly Father on February 24, 2026. She was born to James Troy Clark and Shirley Mae Clark on September 3, 1955. She was preceded in death, by both her father and mother, her husband of 50 years - Dennis D. Payne, brother - Mark Clark, father-in-law - Walter H. Payne, and brother-in-law - Walter W. Payne (Angela).
Janet is survived by daughter - Andrea Repass (Keith), mother-in-law - Marie P. Payne, brothers - Wayne Clark (Donna) and Jimmy Clark, nieces - Myra Edwards (Adam), Denise Clark, Jennifer Clark, Jodi Skeens (Marty), Sandy Clark (Jeremy), Breanna Clark, nephews - Steven Clark (Jolee), and Rader Clark, special great-nephew - Kindal Edwards, along with several great-nieces and great-nephews, many cousins, friends and neighbors.
Janet spent many years in the manufacturing field and was a dedicated worker with an exceptional work ethic. She retired early from the workforce and spent the rest of her years helping her husband on the farm, hunting, gardening, caring for her pets and enjoying her time with family and friends. Janet led a simple life and didn't require much to be content. Most importantly, she was baptized in August 2023, as a public proclamation that Jesus was her Lord and Savior and she placed her hope fully in His promise of eternal life.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the doctors, nurses, and the patient care team members of Good Samaritan Hospice. A very special thank you to Kendra, Mary Lee, Miranda and Brittany. Additional thanks to all the family members, friends and neighbors who gave selflessly of themselves to lend a helping hand over the years.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 1, 2026 at the Reese Funeral Home with the Reverend Keith Repass officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time. Burial will follow in Charity Cemetery.
While flowers are certainly appreciated, in lieu of flowers, you may also make a donation to Good Samaritan Hospice of the New River Valley (1160 Moose Drive Christiansburg, 24073) or Good Samaritan Hospice of Roanoke (4751 Cove Rd NW Roanoke, VA 24017), so that other families dealing with extended illness can experience the same love and care during their greatest times of need.
