Jo Ann Stiltner Dent, 47, of Bland gained her heavenly wings on Sept. 22, 2022 at her home.

She was a loving mother, sister, daughter and friend. She was born in Grundy Va., to Billy Ray and Marjorie Keen Stiltner.  She was preceded in death by her father, a brother, Steven Stiltner and a sister Billie Renee Justice.

For years she held Bible services in her home and taught children bible study. She also had a small business, S&J Billiards in Bland. She enjoyed listening and singing all types of music, but her favorite was Christian. She enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to preaching on television and the radio. She and her son shared birthdays. She always put God first then her family.

In addition to her mother:  Marjorie Fisher, she is survived by her devoted husband Samuel "Sammy" Dent. Her sons; Steven Stiltner Dent, Samuel Isaac Dent, and Mark Daniel Walter Dent and dog Snoopy of the home. Sisters Peggy and Joe Smith, Abingdon. Michelle and Robbie Albert, of Ft. Chiswell and Chrissy LeAnn Stiltner of Bastian. Her step-father, Danny Fisher, Bastian. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws also survive.

The family would like to extend a great thanks to special caregivers Michelle Albert, Steven Stiltner Dent, Peggy Smith and Chrissy Stiltner. They would also like to extend gratitude to Kindred Hospice Staff for the love and care that was extended to the family. The family is also grateful for all the prayers, calls, messages and food during this time.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Bland Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dennis McLemore and Pastor John Thornberry Officiating. I nterment to follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Bastian. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Bland Funeral Chapel.
