John Wesley "Jabo" Dalton, Jr.,  age 88, of Rural Retreat, VA passed away Friday, July 28, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in  Pocahontas, VA on August 7, 1928 the son of the late John Wesley Dalton, Sr. and Cora Kansas Whittaker Dalton.  John was baptized into the Lord's Church in June 1950 and was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.  He was the Owner of Dalton Enterprises in Rural Retreat.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth Bowman Dalton; his children, Roger Dalton and wife Beverly of Rural Retreat, Carolyn Dye and husband Larry of Bristol, VA; grandchildren, Adam Dalton, Julie Dalton both of Rural Retreat, Kevin Dye and wife Tammi of Peery, GA. Chris Dye and wife Shannon of Tazewell, VA; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Brady, Addison, Dylon, Hayley,Renee; sister, Beulah Dalton of Delaware; brother, William Eugene Dalton and wife Ruth of Bland, VA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00  A.M. Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Crossroads Church of Christ in Wytheville, VA with Preacher Walter Schwitzerlett officiating.    A committal service and gathering of friends will follow 1:30 P.M. Monday at the Grandview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Bluefield, VA.  The family will receive friends Sunday evening at the church from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.  The family request that those who prefer may make memorials to the Hospice of Southwest Virginia.
