Obituary

Joyce Patricia “Pat” Martin, age 86, passed away on October 15, 2026. Pat will be lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched throughout her years. Pat was a beloved member of her family and community. She was an active member of Lebanon Lutheran Church and the Eagle Wings Salem VA Chapter X, two organizations that were part of her life and community connections. Her presence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her, but the memories she leaves behind will continue to be treasured for generations to come.

Pat was preceded in death by her father, Jacob Lee Martin; her mother, Adah May Umberger; her stepmother, Lois Martin Seagle; and her special great-great-niece, Willow Faye Aker. Those left to cherish her memory include her companion, Robert “Bobby” Delp; sisters, Bonnie Martin Groseclose and Melissa Martin Cole; nephew, Paul Groseclose and his wife, Trish; nieces, Lanie Garwood and her husband, Todd, and Tracie Blevins and her husband, Frankie; and Chandler Charlillo and her husband, Marc. Pat also leaves behind a loving extended family of great-nieces, great-nephews, and their children, who will continue to carry her memory forward. Her great-niece Lauren Cannoy and her husband, Thomas, and their children, Jordan and Palyn; great-niece Halle Aker and her husband, Codey, and their daughter, Elowyn; great-nephew Hunter Gamble and his wife, Danielle, and their children, Cutchen, Crewe, and Indie; great-nephew Jeremy Groseclose and his children, Gavin, Haiden, Jabe, Eli, Mason, and Claire; great-niece Britta Groseclose and her son, Gritt; great-niece Rachael Bias and her husband, Derick, and their children, Arizona, Aalaylah, and Jada; great-niece Julie Groseclose and her children, Easton and Helix; great-nephew Wyatt Honeycutt; and great-niece Genevieve Charlillo.

Pat’s life was woven into the lives of many, and her memory will remain a treasured part of her family’s story. Though her passing brings sadness to those who loved her, the time shared with her and the memories created over the years will continue to bring comfort and remind them of the lasting place she holds in their hearts. As family and friends gather to remember Pat, may they find comfort in their faith, strength in one another, and peace in knowing that the love shared with her will never be forgotten. She will be dearly missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Barnett Funeral Home with Pastor Jonathan Hammond officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday one hour before service time at the funeral home or at the home of Bonnie Groseclose starting Thursday, October 22nd at any time. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, VA is serving the family.
