Joyce Groseclose Umberger, age 86, of Wytheville, Virginia, passed away Friday, December 8, 2017 at Carrington Place of Wytheville. She was the daughter of the William Emory and Cora Lee Blessing Groseclose.  She was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Graham Umberger, son, Robert Michael Hudson, grandson, Sam Hudson brother, Roy Groseclose and sisters, Pearl Corvin, Vergie Cox, Lillian Bralley, Margaret Hall, Dorothy Surratt and Lona Hill.  Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Teresa and David Atwell of Bland; Angie Neal of Wytheville; brother, Harold "Pete" Groseclose of Waynesboro, VA; eight grandchildren, Leysa Cox, Robby Melton, Amanda Melton, Chris Sharitz, Jennifer Jones, Brandon Neal, Corey Sharitz and Melanie Meade; 18 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2017 at the Barnett Funeral Home with Reverend Barry Ayers officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethany Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Wythe County Humane Society P.O. Box 362 Wytheville, VA 24382.
