The Slavin family of Henrico lost its matriarch, Kathryne Lucille Ellis Slavin, on November 22, 2022. She left on her late husband's birthday, reuniting after seven months. Both recently departed were migrants to the area, previously residing in Rural Retreat, VA for their 44 years of marriage.

Kathy is survived by her brother David (Jan) of Titusville, FL and her sons John (Ashley Carter) of Henrico and Frank III of Wytheville, VA. She was Grammie to four grandchildren: Silas and August Slavin, Bastian Neuner, and bonus granddaughter Emma Howard.

Kathy was a tireless advocate for those less fortunate, especially the mentally handicapped. She received her Master's in Special Education from Radford University before teaching in the Wythe County school system. Later in life, she transitioned to Mt. Rogers Community Service Board, where she developed programs for individuals with special needs. She was a member of the Rural Retreat, VA Lions Clubs, Manakin Episcopal Church and previously St. John's in Wytheville, where she was active in both local and diocesan outreach. While her love for her faith, family, and community will be sorely missed; we celebrate that she is together with her true love, again.

Memorial proceedings will be held 1:00PM, Saturday December 3 ^rd at Manakin Episcopal Church; followed by internment services in Wytheville, VA to be held at 1:00PM on December 10 ^th at St. John's Episcopal.
