Kenneth Elwood Akers, age 82, of Max Meadows, VA passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017. He was born May 1, 1935 in Wythe County, the son of the late Howard Cunningham Akers and Mona Lewis Akers. He is survived by his wife, Lois Akers; four daughters, Sheri Akers and Sean Allison of Austinville, VA, Mary Ruth Akers of Max Meadows, VA, Donna Gail Akers of Mt. Airy, NC, Deeann Akers and Mark Pressley of Wytheville, VA; two sons, Kenneth Elwood Akers, Jr. and Angela D. Akers of Piney, VA, Roy Parnell Akers and Kala Bralley Akers of Max Meadows, VA; sister, Betty Cox of Max Meadows, VA; two brothers, Reverend Billy Akers of Pulaski, VA and Doug Akers of Piney, VA; twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be private.

The family will receive friends Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home.
