Larry Eugene Tibbs, age 74, of Rural Retreat, VA passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024.  He was born in Wythe Co., VA on August 9, 1950, the son of the late Emory Garland Tibbs and Ruth Elizabeth Atwell Tibbs. He was a member of the Rural Retreat Baptist Church. Larry was preceded in death by brothers Emory Wayne Tibbs and Roger Dale Tibbs. He was an avid student of the Bible. He loved fishing with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of almost 48 years Betty Barker Tibbs, children James Michael Tibbs (Michelle), Christopher Tibbs (Olga),  brothers and sisters, Nancy Kirk (Dean) of Norton, VA, Linda Tibbs, Kenneth Tibbs (Sally), Gary Tibbs (Patsy), Patti Bridges (Tommy) all of Rural Retreat, VA; grandchildren, Emma, Mark, Tessa; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Service will be held Sunday, October 20, 2024 at the Rural Retreat Baptist Church with Pastor Jacob Vanover officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until service time at the church. Interment will follow Monday, October 21, 2024 at 10:00 am at Mountain View Cemetery in Rural Retreat.
