Larry Eugene Lindsey, age 84, of Rural Retreat, VA passed away Saturday July 9, 2022.   He was born December 14, 1937 in Rural Retreat, he was the son of the late Fred Eugene Lindsey and Rita Evelyn Phillippi Lindsey. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years Patsy Dix Lindsey, parents, and siblings Harry Franklin Lindsey and Teresa Kay Lindsey Buck.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  He was a project inspector and surveyor for Virginia Dot and the town of Wytheville. He was a huge supporter of the Rural Retreat High School Athletics and Boosters Club. A member of the Wythe County Sports Hall of Fame. He was a Virginia Tech Football season ticket holder. He played on the US Air Force Softball team. He was an avid Golfer. He was a devoted Christian member of the United Lutheran Church in Crockett. Always willing to help others.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M.  Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in the Lindsey Funeral Home with Pastor Steven Dew officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Pallbears will be family.  Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery in Rural Retreat with Military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post 229 of Rural Retreat and Air Force Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post 229 Po Box 466, Rural Retreat, Virginia 24368 or Mt Airy Masonic Lodge 226.
