Obituary

Larry Eugene McKinney, 72, of Coal City, West Virginia, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 11, 2026, following a brief illness.

Born June 13, 1953, in Beckley, West Virginia, he was the son of the late James C. and Susie Etta Polk Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A man of unwavering faith and exemplary work ethic, Mr. McKinney dedicated his life to his family and his values. He found his greatest joy in the company of his loved ones, particularly during the summers spent with his grandchildren, and enjoyed the quiet reflection of fishing.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Fay Maxwell McKinney; his children, Curtis McKinney and his wife, Amie, of Rural Retreat, Virginia, and Crystal Hamilton and her husband, JJ, of Raleigh, North Carolina; and his four cherished grandchildren, Benjamin, Emily, and Rebecca McKinney, and Bryanna Hamilton.

His memory will also be honored by his siblings: Randy McKinney of Beckley; James M. Jones and his wife, Michelle, of Shady Spring; Barbara Strachan of Steubenville, Ohio; and Melissa Dinkler and her husband, Rick, of Broadway, North Carolina; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday June 15, 2026 at 12 Noon at Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley, with Pastor Tom Maurer officiating. Interment will follow at Calfee Cemetery in Beckley, WV.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
