Larry Bruce Tibbs passed away peacefully and entered his eternal home on March 8, 2026, at the age of 83. Larry was born on April 25, 1942, in Bland Va. Larry is preceded in death by his parents Willis Peery Tibbs and Elie Mae Kitts Tibbs. Brothers Willis Tibbs, Dennis Tibbs, Joe Tibbs, and Jimmy Tibbs. Sisters Katherine Dillman, Gladys Umbarger, Anna Wayne Thompson, and Alma Kitts.

He is survived by his loved ones and devoted caregivers including Michael and Amber Cassell and Children, Carlton and Betty Cassell, Bobby and Renee Thompson along with many other family members, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly. Special friends include Dale "Pete" Hull, Jean Dalton, GH Peery, Hunter Barger, and Wade Hall along with many others.

Larry retired from Henry Schein and worked at Tultex for many years. In addition to his career, Larry proudly served his community through the local fire department, where he dedicated over 50 years.  Through hard work and leadership rose to the role of Chief, a position which he served with honor and a deep sense of responsibility to the community he cared so much about.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 12:00 pm with the funeral services beginning at 1:00 pm at the Sharon Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will include Hunter Barger, GH Peery, Bobby Thompson, Carlton Cassell, Jeremy Thompson and Johnathon Stiltner.

Larry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, fellow firefighters, community, church family, his cat Grizzly and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on in the lives he touched and the community he served.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to assist with burial expenses with remaining donations being given to the Ceres Volunteer Fire Department.
