Lewis Umbarger

Lewis Umbarger, age 87, of Ceres, Virginia went to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 31, 2026. He was born on June 26, 1938, to the late Elmer Umbarger and Nellie Coffey Umbarger.

Lewis shared 58 beautiful years of marriage with his late wife, Phyllis Jeane Durham Umbarger, after marrying on January 30, 1960. He was a devout man who loved hunting, bluegrass music, attending church, and reading his Bible.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis, and two brothers, Donald Umbarger and John Umbarger.

Lewis is survived by his three children: a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Glen Repass of Ceres; a son, Michael Umbarger and wife Tammy of Draper, VA; and a daughter, Jessica. He is also survived by two brothers, Allen and Ray Umbarger; one sister, Barbara Blankenship; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Bland Community Church with Reverend Leroy Long officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery in Ceres. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Bland Community Church.
