Luther leaves behind his children, Jeremy Woods of Galax; Alice and her husband Brett Hodge of Wytheville; siblings Jimmy Woods, Ricky Woods, Joyce Holl, Kay Cline, Irene Sells; 5 grandchildren Sierra Burchard, Brianna Brannock, Christopher Sweeney, Allison, and Lisa Hoback; 5 great-grandchildren James Hoback, John Hoback, Conner Williams Sweeney, Ayden Robinnette, and Adalyn Robinnette, who each held an important place in his life. His legacy endures in the lives he touched and the guidance he provided across generations.

Luther was predeceased by his parents, Luther Woods Sr and Ellen Jane Pollard Woods, whose influence and values shaped his character and approach to life. The memory of his parents remained central to him, serving as both example and inspiration throughout his own journey.

Luther’s roots began in Grayson County, where he was born, and he spent his final years in Austinville, affirming his deep connection to Southwest Virginia. A person of integrity and quiet strength, Luther was regarded for his reliability and warmth. Those who knew him will remember his capacity to bring comfort in difficult times and his unwavering presence as a source of stability.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on June 23, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Barnett Funeral Service, located at 325 Church Street, Wytheville, VA 34382. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Barnett Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Gray officiating. Burial will take place at West End Cemetery, 1825 West Lee Highway, Wytheville, VA 24382.
