Marion Jackson "Jack" Dutton Jr age 92 of Rural Retreat, VA passed away Wednesday January 11,2023 at his home.
Jack was the son of the late Marion Jackson Dutton Sr and Virgie Snavely Dutton. Jack was born on October 22, 1930. He was preceded in death by his wife Nadine Buck Dutton of 67 years, a brother Guy Dutton, sisters, Evelyn Pierce and Frances McCain. Jack is survived by one son Mark P. Dutton of the Home.
Jack was a lifelong Farmer, Educator, Coach and mentor to thousands of young adults at Rural Retreat High School where he taught from 1959 until he retired in 1990.
A graduate of Rural Retreat High School in 1948 and Emory University he also proudly served in the United States Navy.
A lifelong Christian he attended Fulton United Methodist Church. Jack was well known for his singing voice and was frequently asked to sing at funerals and other gatherings.
Visitation will be at Lindsey Funeral Home Monday January 16th from 12-2 PM. Entombment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Garden Mausoleum with Rev. David Payne officiating.
