Mary Ruth Manuel

Mary Ruth Hanks Manuel, age 88, of Max Meadows, VA passed away Wednesday, September 16, 2026. She was born November 4, 1937 in Wythe County, daughter of the late Robert E. Hanks and Sylvia Roberta Fisher Hanks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Garland Manuel.

Survivors include her sister, Linda Breen and her brother and sister-in-law, David and Debby Hanks, all of Max Meadows.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 20, 2026 at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with Tony Hodge officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Burial will be held at 11: 00 a.m. Monday, September 21st at West End Cemetery.
