Billy "Mason" Garland, age 76, of Wytheville, VA passed away peacefully Friday, October 17, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Wytheville on October 6, 1949 to the late Argle and Virginia Garland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Garland; brothers, Joe Garland and "Shorty" Garland; sister, Glenna McFarland; and niece, Jessica Jones.

Mason was a proud United States Army Veteran. He loved to fish, but his passion was picking the guitar and singing. He was a wonderful man, always humble and kind.

Mason is survived by his daughter, Christy Melamed; sister and caregiver, Patricia Gail Tate, sister, Beckie Garland Friend (Oakley); grandsons, Michael Garland and Ethan Melamed; granddaughters, Lindsey Leonard, Savannah Leonard and Liahn Melamed. Mason is also survived by many special nieces and nephews that loved to hang out with him to fish, listen to him play his guitar and hear him sing.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at the Barnett Funeral Home with the Reverend Kent Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before service time.

Although flowers will be appreciated, the family suggests memorial donations be given to a disabled veteran's organization.
