Melvin Graham Archer passed away at Lewis Gale Pulaski Hospital on Thursday, March 9, 2017 with his sons by his side.  He was born May 23, 1940 in Wythe County, the son of the late Garland Archer, Sr. and Emma Reynolds Archer.  He was preceded in death by his wife Linda Alley Archer and son Stephen Archer, a brother, Garland Archer, Jr., and a sister Virginia Archer Mabe.  He is survived by three sons, Jeff Archer of Fort Chiswell, VA, Chris Archer of Fort Chiswell, VA and Jeremy and Sarah Bishop of Wytheville, VA; three grandchildren: Brandon, Justin, and Shawn; two great-grandchildren: Kali and Jaxon; two brothers and sisters-in-law:  Richard and Sylvia Archer of Fort Chiswell, VA and Elmo and Jo Lynn Archer of Fort Chiswell, VA; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 13, 2017 at 7:00 PM at the Reese Funeral Home in Austinville, VA.  Interment will be on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Archer Family Cemetery.  Family will receive friends on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Reese Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until service time.
