"The foundation of who we are and all we do is based on prayer. It is a privilege we should be thankful for and a responsibility we should take seriously." Author Unknown. To Nancy Herndon, the power of prayer was her guiding force.
Nancy passed away in the early morning hours of January 21, but her sweet soul will continue to live on through her loving family and friends. She was a very caring person who devoted herself to prayer, her church, and the people around her. Nancy was born in Lebanon, VA in May of 1933 to Pauline and John Stinson. She was the youngest of five. As a student of Lebanon High School, she loved basketball, singing, art, and Bob Herndon; she was head-over-heels! After graduation, she went to Radford College to study education. She later married Bob, and they lived in Wytheville where they raised two children, John and Betsy. Nancy proved to be a loving mother and remained close to her children throughout their adulthood. Throughout her life, Nancy was enthusiastically involved in Wytheville Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was active with many committees and groups. She completed her long teaching career at George Wythe High where she taught art and business. She was a beloved teacher, club sponsor, and colleague.
Nancy lost her cherished husband, Bob in 1996.
