Nancy C. Umberger, age 80 of Rural Retreat, VA went to be with her Heavenly Father on  Saturday, December 9, 2017.                                           .

She was born in Rural Retreat, VA on July 7, 1937 the daughter of the late William Vernon and Thelma Bowers Vernon.   She was a member of the Rural Retreat United Methodist Church and a retired teacher with the Roanoke County Public School System with 39 years of service.   Nancy loved to read and enjoyed listening to music.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Harold Lee Umberger; a son,  Victor Umberger and  wife Cindy; step-grandchildren, Capen Semones all of Roanoke, VA and Michaela Semones of Galveston, TX.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Lindsey Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bob Ruth officiating with a graveside committal service to follow 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in the Mountain View Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. prior to the service.  The family requests that those who prefer may make memorials to the Rural Retreat United Methodist Church, 503 Church Street, Rural Retreat, VA  24368.
