Patricia Swecker Hines, lovingly known as Pat and Patsy Ann, peacefully passed away on May 24, 2025, at her home on Castleton Road in Max Meadows, Virginia. Born on September 30, 1946, in Pulaski County, Pat's life was a testament to dedication, family, and service. She was 78.

Pat was cherished as a devoted wife, mother, sister, and Nana. She shared 62 incredible years of marriage with her beloved husband, Paul Hines, building a loving family and enduring partnership. She leaves behind her daughters, Paula Hines and Joy Gilman, (J.R.), who will carry forward her indomitable spirit. Pat was also a beloved sister to Alma Coleman and Terri Wood (Jerry Dowling). She is predeceased by her parents, Ruby and Edgar Swecker, step father, Kenneth Wood, and her brothers, Kenneth Swecker, Edgar Swecker, Jr., and David Wood.

Pat treasured time spent with her beloved grandchildren, Makaela Hurd (Dustin), Gabe Shelton (Haven), Andrew Shelton, Noah Gilman, Maggie Alley (Kyle), Makenna Gilman, Nash Gilman, and great grandchildren, Magnolia and Ruby Hurd.

A pillar in both her family and community, Pat served the Wythe County Public School system in various roles for 44 years. She was known widely and warmly remembered by generations of students and colleagues alike.  A dedicated member of Fort Chiswell United Methodist Church, she found great joy in cooking, canning, and serving her church community, reflecting her giving nature and selfless spirit.

She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and devotion that will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her warmth was not only felt by her family but extended throughout her community.

Visitation will be held at Reese Funeral Home in Austinville, Virginia, on Friday, May 30th at 5:30 p.m., followed by a service at 7:00 p.m. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Pat are invited to gather in celebration of a life lived generously and with love.

In honoring Pat's memory, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 510 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 28105 or www.stjude.org, a community dear to her heart. Pat's legacy of love and service will be remembered always.
