Obituary

Patsy Hagy Armstrong, 76, passed away peacefully on August 27, 2026. Born on September 19, 1949, in Wythe County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Wiley Ervin Hagy and Eva Virgie Johnson Hagy.

Loved by all who knew her, Patsy was celebrated for her radiant warmth, unforgettable bubbly personality, and a heart big enough to care for everyone around her. She was a natural caregiver whose home was always filled with love, comfort, and hospitality. A woman of immense talent, Patsy was a fantastic cook whose meals brought family and friends together, and a remarkably gifted seamstress who could sew anything. Whether crafting handmade treasures, preparing a meal, or mending pieces with care, her hands were rarely still, and everything she did was done with love. She was a faithful, longtime member of Rural Retreat Baptist Church. Above all else, Patsy was a devoted, wonderful mother whose family was the absolute center of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving significant other, Richard Wayne Armstrong; her brother, Carl Hagy; and her sister, Louise Hall.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: her sons, Tim Brown, Bobby Armstrong, and Cody Armstrong and his wife, Madison; and her daughters, Lydia Bowman, Nicole Ricketts, and Paulina Anderson and her husband Michael. She is also survived by her brother, Bud Hagy; her sister, Nellie Moran and her husband, Chief; as well as several beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many extended family members and dear friends.
