Simmerman
April 15, 1927 – September 27, 2017
Paul Raymond Simmerman, age 90, of Wytheville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 27, 2017. Paul was a humble man with loving kindness and a strong faith in the Lord. He was a loving dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. He had faith, patience and endurance during his illness.
Paul was born in Wythe County and remained there to work and raise his family. He was a hard worker and enjoyed mowing his properties and keeping things well trimmed. Paul loved his church, his family, and his farm. He was a life-long (80 years +) member of Petunia Christian Church, where he regularly attended until his health began to fail. He was preceded in death by his adopted parents, James and Hattie Corvin Simmerman, a daughter, Debbie Buchanan and a grandson, James Landon Simmerman, biological parents Mary and Clarence Hedrick, four brothers, Joe Hedrick, Lester Hedrick, Jim Hedrick, Charles Hedrick as well as a sister, Helen who died as a child.
He is survived by a Son and Daughter-In-Law; Dennis and Lisa Simmerman, Wytheville; Grandchild; Robbie & Tresila Lambert; Step-Grand-Daughter- Crystal and Preston Webb; Adopted Great-Grand-Daughter; Bella ambert; Special Caregivers; Eula Meadows and Bob Stoots; Also a special thanks to Dr. Turski and His Hospice Team.
The family is saddened by Paul's passing, but we are so grateful that he passed peacefully and is now in the arms of the God. A special thanks to Eula Meadows for her years of loving attention, care and devotion as Paul's full-time caregiver and sister in Christ. A special thanks to Bob Stoots for his kindness, care and devotion as Paul's part-time caregiver. Thanks to Dr. Turski and Hospice for all their care and guidance.
Funeral services will be held 7:00 P.M. Friday, September 29, 2017 at the Barnett Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Martin officiating with a committal service to follow 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the West End Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Friday at the Barnett Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Wythe Co Rescue Squad.
