Obituary

Peggy Yvonne Eversole Brown passed peacefully from her earthly home in Daleville, Virginia, to her Heavenly home on May 7, 2024. She obediently and joyfully served the Lord during her 81 years in this world. She will be greatly missed by so many, but she leaves a lasting legacy of faith to all those who knew and loved her.

Sister Brown loved her church and all the people in it. While she was sick, she often said how much she wanted to share with her church members how God was working to show His light and love to those around her even during her illness. She dedicated her life in service to the Lord and was known as a mighty prayer warrior. She delighted in beauty around her as shown by her tender care for her flowers or by the sparkly pin that might grace the lapel of her suit. She always wanted to show love to those around her so freely gave gifts to those she met to show her appreciation.

She was born on December 21, 1942, in Austinville, Virginia. She graduated from Ft. Chiswell High School and attended Radford University. She worked in bookkeeping for years at Hobert N. Grubb and then at the International Headquarters for the Church of God of Prophecy. She devoted her life to ministry and earned a Bachelors degree in Theology. She served in countless roles for the Church of God of Prophecy, including State Ladies Retreat Director, State Treasurer, District Representative for Church of God of Prophecy Markers Association, and was the keynote speaker at many church retreats and events. She pastored several churches over the years and loved her current congregation at Botetourt Church of God of Prophecy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dempsey and Mildred Poole Eversole; her nephew, Charles Cooley; and her brother-in-law, Dr. Donald Bowdle. She is survived by her loving and faithful husband of 58 years, Douglas Brown, as well as her sister, Jean Bowdle; her niece and nephew, Drs. Dianna & Joshua Puhr, and children, Jacoby, Ty, Aria, Justin, Josie; as well as great niece, Bethany Cooley, and children, Annabelle, McKinley, and Jaxon.

Peggy Brown's life is a beautiful testimony of a life dedicated to Christ and to serving His people. She will be deeply missed, but we know she is now rejoicing with the angels in Heaven. "The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever." Isaiah 40:8
