Peggy Ann Reed, age 70, of Wytheville, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

Born on August 1, 1955, Peggy was the daughter of the late Robert Preston Gravley and Zella Irene Gravley.

Peggy's faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. Psalm 91:1 was her favorite scripture and brought her comfort, strength, and peace throughout her life. Her family finds comfort in knowing that the faith she carried throughout her journey has now become sight.

Peggy was the life of the party and never met a stranger. She loved western clothes, turquoise jewelry, rhinestones, and anything with a little sparkle. She also enjoyed caring for her chickens and spending time with those she loved.

Above all else, Peggy was fiercely devoted to her family. She was a loving mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend whose children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the center of her world. She was exceptionally protective of those she loved, and there was nothing she would not do for them.

Peggy was immensely proud of both of her children and never missed an opportunity to brag on them. She especially loved sharing with others just how proud she was of her daughter and all of her accomplishments. Her unwavering encouragement, love, and belief in those she loved will forever remain one of her greatest gifts.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Missy and Mike Carrico of Fort Chiswell, Virginia; her son, Dougie Gravley of Wytheville, Virginia; her former husband, Plennie Udale Reed; her sisters, Barbara Mulkey (Frankie) of Speedwell, Virginia, Sandra Childress (Jerry) of Wytheville, Virginia, and Linda Arnold of Piney, Virginia; her cherished grandchildren, Logan Sisk (Emily), Shane "Tyler" Sisk (Lindsey Jackson), Chase Levi Clark, Tanner Gravley, and Summer Gravley; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Jaelyn, Allie, Eli, Brantley, Daizy, Samia, and Walker, with one precious great-granddaughter on the way. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

Peggy was blessed with many special friends, including Tammy King, Zan Arnold, and Casey Waller, who each held a special place in her heart.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her devoted caregiver, Judy Sparks, and to Wythe Hospice for the exceptional care, compassion, and support shown to Peggy and her family during this difficult time.

Funeral services for Peggy Ann Reed will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Freedom Ministries, 760 East Main Street, Wytheville, Virginia (beside Sonic in Wytheville), officiated by Pastor Ronnie Sawyers.

Visitation for family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with funeral services immediately following at 2:00 p.m.

Interment will follow at Granny's Garden Cemetery, located at 180 Baltic Lane, Wytheville, Virginia.

Flowers may be sent to Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville.

In lieu of flowers, or for those who wish to honor Peggy's memory in another way, the family would be deeply grateful for contributions to assist with final expenses. Contributions may be made directly to Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville. Most importantly, the family asks that you continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Everyone who knew Peggy knew how much she loved her western clothes, boots, turquoise jewelry, and anything with a little sparkle. In honor of Peggy and her vibrant spirit, family and friends are encouraged to wear western attire, jeans and boots, or whatever they feel most comfortable in as we celebrate her beautiful life.

"He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." — Psalm 91:1

Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that Peggy is no longer suffering and is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus. Her love, strength, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
