Richard Lewis Lambert " Beetle" age 79 of Bland VA, the Shewey Valley Community was called home Thursday evening  November 16, 2023, following a long courageous battle from several health conditions. He was born October 25, 1944, in Bland County VA the son of the late Elmer Lewis & Trula Neel Lambert, Richard was preceded in death by his son Michael Lewis Lambert.

Richard attended Ceres Elementary School, Ceres High School & graduated from Rich Valley High School. He excelled & held school records in basketball & was also a fast left handed baseball pitcher. Richard retired as a VA State employee with 36 years of service having worked for the Department of Transportation; Department of Corrections, & East River Tunnel. Richard was an avid hunter who greatly enjoyed being in the outdoors, & truly loved his hunting dogs.

His three special dog companions Sparkie, Speedy & Cricket who were always by his side, & several nieces, nephews and many extended family & special friends also survive.

A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday November 21, 2023 at 3:00 PM at the New Zion Church in Nebo, with Rev Neal Hammons officiating, burial will follow in the Church Cemetery; the family will receive friends at the Church Tuesday from 2:00 PM until service time.

Although flowers will be appreciated, those who prefer may make memorial donations in memory of Richard to the New Zion Church 3171 Old Rich Valley Rd Ceres VA 24318.
