Robert Larry Dunford

Robert Larry Dunford, age 79, of Ivanhoe, VA passed away Saturday, October 3, 2026. He was born October 22, 1946 in Pulaski County, son of the late Joe Dunford, Jr. and Edna Akers Dunford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin infant sons, Ronald and Donald Dunford, a sister, Roberta Sutphin and three brothers, Charles Dunford, Joe Dunford and Wayne Dunford. He was a member of Odd Fellows Ivanhoe Lodge #73. Larry enjoyed spending time outdoors. He spent a great deal of time fishing on the river and taking afternoon drives looking for deer. He was affectionately known as Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he dearly loved and gave so much.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne Sayers Dunford of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Danny Taylor of Ivanhoe, Tracy and Gregg Haga of Max Meadows; a son, Shane Dunford of Ivanhoe; five grandchildren and their spouses, Joshua and Abby Taylor, Zackary and April Taylor, Michael and Lindsay Haga, Cadence Dunford and Averey Turner, Tristan Dunford; three great-grandchildren, Jaxton Taylor, Mallory Taylor and Releigh Turner. Several nieces, nephews and many extended family and close friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at Reese Funeral Home with the Reverend Mike Ingo and Reverend Don Crockett officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow the funeral at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
