Rocky Elwood Hanks, age 64, of Max Meadows, passed away Thursday January 5, 2016.

He was born May 23, 1952 to the late Garrie and Helen Irene Coley Hanks in Wythe County.

Rocky attended the Austinville Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his brother James Henry Hanks.  Survivors include his wife Linda Hanks of Max Meadows; daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Brian Aker of Piney; sister and brother-in-law, Lillie and William Davis of Austinville; sister-in-law, Sissy and Mickey Fizer of Blacksburg; brother-in-law, Jamie and Angie Linkous of Blacksburg; uncle Paul and Faye Coley; aunt, Sue Coley; Nieces and nephews, Shawn, Angela and Caleb Alderson, Jeff Linkous and Casey Terrell; special friends Neil Aker, Jason and Holly Aker, Layuna Shinault, Terry and Verlie White, Ken and Gwen Bond, Connie Lyons and Denita Burnett.

Funeral service will be held 2P.M., Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Reese Funeral Home with Reverend Jason Aker officiating. Interment will follow in the Aker Family Cemetery in Piney.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
