Ronald W. Penton (Ron) 75 of Rural Retreat, Va., on June 6th, 2026 slipped into eternity, to be forever with the Lord…
Ron and wife Barbara are natives of the Pensacola, Fla Area and raised their two girls enjoying typical Gulf Coast beach life.
Much later both came to love the Appalachian Mountains of Southwest Virginia. So, in retirement they relocated to the wonderful little town of Rural Retreat, VA living very happily, loving small-town life, the friendliness of the people and the beautiful mountains in all the seasons, especially fall and winter, and yes, they really do love the snow.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Penton and Ola Mae Penton.
A much loved husband, father, papa, great-papa, and brother; Ron is survived by the “Love of His Life” Barbara, wife of 56 yrs., and also the family he loves and cherishes so dearly; daughters Tracy (Mike) Renwick and Toni (Robb) Baber; grandchildren Stefan (Karra) Tipton, Amber (Ethyn) Herbst, Kristal Renwick, Junior (Megan) Renwick, and Rylee Baber; great granddaughters Raelyn and Aubrey Tipton; great grandson Harrison Perkins; brothers Joe (MaryAnn) Penton and Hurston (Lina) Penton; sisters-in-law Cheryl (Arthur) Johnson and JoAnn McCranie.
The family is especially grateful for the brotherhood and friendship shown by Donnie Buck and Chuck Miller, other friends, neighbors, the Ignite Church family, the Depot family and so many others who enriched Ron’s life.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 12 noon, with Pastor Darren Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Rural Retreat. The family will receive friends one hour before service time.
