Samuel David Wheeler, Sr., age 66, of Barren Springs, VA passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017. He was born August 1, 1950 in Wytheville, the son of the late Truman Austin Wheeler and Stella Johnson Wheeler.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Wheeler and Bill Wheeler; sister, Leona Sisnerois.  He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cleita Jackson Wheeler; four sons, David and Marsha Wheeler, Mark and Linda Wheeler, Timmy Wheeler and fiancée Haleigh Breeden all of Barren Springs, Billy Wheeler of Wytheville; daughter, Tammy and Tim Monahan of Barren Springs; nine grandchildren, Zackery and Amanda Wheeler, Woody and Tiffani Wheeler, Tristan Wheeler, Matthew and Jessica Monahan, Timothy "BooBoo" Wheeler, Jr., Dylan Wheeler, Dakota Wheeler, Seth Monahan, Brooklyn Wheeler; four great grandchildren, Breanna Monahan, Matthew Monahan, Griffin Wheeler, Benjamin Wheeler; special nephews, Bobby Tatum and Randolph Reed; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Wheeler Family Cemetery with Pastor Carson Linkous officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Barnett Funeral Home or at the residence at any time. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, VA is serving the Wheeler family.
