Sharon Fay Thompson Smith, age 79, of Rural Retreat, VA. passed away Sunday, February 23, 2025 at home.  She was born in Blaine, KY on February 3, 1946, the daughter of the late Walker Thompson and Nancy O'Bryan Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband Hoover Smith, 2 brothers and 6 sisters.

She was a devout Christian, a loving wife and mother. She was married to her husband for over 50 years. She was the baby of 14 children. Her favorite things to do was to work with her flowers in the yard, and bake for her dear friends. She loved to spend time with her best friend Dreama Pratt. She was so proud of all of her children. She was very beloved by all her friends and family; she will be greatly missed.

Sharon is survived by her sons Brian Smith and Alison Yu of West Virginia, and Major Dr. Christopher Hoover Smith of England; daughter Dana Howell King and Jeffrey Paul King of Wytheville, VA; grandchildren Brian Smith Jr., Maya Smith Shoaf, Kayla Gravley, and Kyle Gravley; great grandchildren Gracie Shoaf, Atticus Shoaf and Henry Smith; brother Junior Thompson; sisters Willie Elliott, Sue Bryant and husband Ralph, Neva Bevins, and Louise Cordle; and many nieces and nephews.

To honor Sharon's wishes she has been cremated, there will be no funeral service.
