Shirley K. Stowers Crigger, age 84, passed away at home in Wythe County, Virginia, on October 4, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 9, 1942, in Wythe County, a place that remained closely tied to her life from beginning to end.
Shirley will be remembered with love by those who knew her and by the family she held dear. She is survived by her son, David Kendall, and her daughter, Donna Compton. She also leaves her sister, Oma Jean Kendall; her several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her extended family, she is lovingly remembered by her stepchildren and those closest to them: Del and Polly Crigger, Daniel and Tracey Crigger, Drusilla Parks, Debbie Crigger and her friend, Billy Thompson, and Dreamma and John Danes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Elbert Crigger, and by her parents, Alan Stowers and Lucy Irene Atwell Stowers. The memory of those who went before her remained part of the family story she carried throughout her life.

She died in the home she knew, with the comfort of family around her, a reflection of the closeness and care that marked her final moments. May her memory be a source of peace and comfort to all who loved her.
