Shirley June Longbottom Colligan, a beloved family matriarch of Rural Retreat, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the age of 100.

Born on July 16, 1925, in Paterson, New Jersey, Shirley was the daughter of the late Frank Longbottom and Cornelia DuPree Longbottom. She carried with her the resilience and spirit of a generation that saw the world change in unimaginable ways, reaching her milestone 100th birthday this past summer.

Shirley was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John George Colligan, her daughter, Ann Kolis, and her sister Virginia Koehler.

Her memory will be cherished and kept alive by her family:

Grandchildren: Tracy Clemons and partner Ricky Schulz

Step-Grandchildren: Julia Antienowicz, and T.J. Kolis

Son-in-Christ: Casey Clemons

Granddaughter-in-Christ: Adaline King

She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who were touched by her century of life.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 1:30 P.M. to 2:15 P.M. at Lindsey Funeral Home.

A celebration of Shirley's long and full life will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 2:30 P.M. at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Pastor Casey Clemons will officiate the service, with burial to follow immediately within the cemetery grounds.
