Shirley Syvina Parks Vipperman, age 82, of Rural Retreat, Va., passed away May 28, 2025. She was born March 8, 1943 in Wythe County, Va., to the late Albert Baine Parks and Della Inez Rich Parks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Vipperman Sr., her brothers Glenn Parks and William Parks.

Shirley will always be remembered for her love for her family and community. We'll always imagine hearing her say "I am fine" one more time. We couldn't have asked for a better mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. Shirley was a godly woman who was firm in her faith for the Lord. Many in the community will remember her for sewing, canning and her bright smiling face. Shirley could work wonders on a sewing machine and there was nothing she couldn't fix. She was the family caregiver and the one that kept the family held together.  Her favorite titles were Mom and Grandma, she loved her boys and grandkids with a fierce like none other. Shirley could make anything grow and loved to spend her summers in the garden, she had already started her plants for this year. Shirley's memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her. We will deeply miss her and life will never be the same. We will always love you.

She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law: Dale Eugene & Teresa Vipperman of Rural Retreat, Va., Charles Edward Jr. & Deanna Vipperman of Rural Retreat, Va., Jerry Lee Vipperman of Rural Retreat, Va., Billy Joe & Beth Vipperman of Dublin, Va.; grandchildren: Christie Vipperman, Jerod & Tori Vipperman, Rachel Vipperman, Chloe Vipperman, Easton Vipperman; great grandchildren: Makala, Joshua, Kade, Enoch, Judah, Eden, Wyatt; brothers: Ray & Becky Parks of Rural Retreat, Va., Richard Parks of Rural Retreat, Va.; sisters: Becky Sage of Rural Retreat, Va., Frieda Osborne of Crockett, Va, and Linda Parks of Huckleberry, Va.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Steve Alderman and Pastor Dale Vipperman officiating at Mountain View Cemetery Rural Retreat, Va.
