Tolley "B.J." Soren Svard, age 74, of Max Meadows, VA passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018.  He was born September 25, 1943 in Sweden, the son of the late Soren and Britta Svard.  B.J. was a retired Senior Special Agent with the Virginia State Police with 43 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Susan L. Svard; son, Adam and Amanda Svard of South Hill, VA; three daughters, Samantha and Shane Reed of Hillsville, VA, Jennifer and Chuck Graham of Roanoke, VA, Emily Woody and Mike of Roanoke, VA; six grandchildren, Blake and Grant Reed, Gunnar Svard, Lauren Graham, Kimberly and Amanda Woody; sister, Valerie Svard of Marietta, GA; three brothers, Bo and Suzanne Svard of South Dakota, Billy Svard of New Jersey, Eric Svard of Marietta, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 20, 2018 at the Barnett Funeral Home with Chaplain Aaron Perry officiating. Private interment will be held in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, VA is serving the Svard family.
