Violet Opal Cassell of Rural Retreat, joined her heavenly Father and family on July 26th, 2023.

Opal was preceded in death by her husband, Lawerence Mack Cassell, and her loving daughters, Shirley Eanes (James "Larry" Eanes), and Darnell Thomas (James "Bo" Thomas). She is now reunited with her parents, cherished siblings, family members, and friends who have gone before her.

Opal will be dearly missed by her sister, Joan Burchett (nephews; Ron and Gary Burchett) and her cherished grandchildren, Angie Eanes Potts (Brian Potts), Cindy Thomas Burton (Richard Burton), Ron Thomas (Andrea Crigger Thomas), and Amy Eanes McClanahan (Alan McClanahan). Her legacy endures through her adored great-grandchildren, Brandy and JB Potts, Morgan Dean (Michael Dean) and Baylie Burton, Dillion and Caroline Thomas, and Ella, Huntleigh, and Aubreigh McClanahan, as well as her great-great-grandson, Moxley Dean. Opal leaves behind many special family, friends and neighbors.

A celebration of Opal's life will be held on Sunday, July 30th, at Lindsey Funeral Home in Rural Retreat. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 pm. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Alisha Buck for her exceptional care through Senior Home Health Share, providing comfort and support during Opal's final days.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Rural Retreat Volunteer Emergency Services. Lindsey Funeral Home, Rural Retreat, VA is serving the Cassell family.
