Virginia Ellen Jefferson Aker, age 91, of Wytheville, VA (the Piney community) passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025. She was born October 8, 1934 in Carroll County, daughter of the late Richard Jefferson and Eula Sumner Jefferson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Roy Aker; a grandson, Joseph Aker; a brother, Richard "Dickie" Jefferson and a sister, Mildred Walk. Virginia was a lifetime member of the Mt. Zion Community Church.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Lynn and Roger Farris; her son and daughter-in-law, Cleve and Angela Aker, all of Wytheville; two sisters, Lois Hensley of Wytheville and Willie Gray Dunford of Ivanhoe; two brothers, James "Jimmy" Jefferson of Shawsville, VA, Ricky and Rhonda Jefferson of Walton Furnace; four grandchildren and spouses, Christy Smith, Jessica and Jason Perdue, Evan and Gretta Aker, Erika and Alex Jones; seven great-grandchildren, Connor Smith, Bailey Perdue, Sidney Stacy, Cora Stacy, Jocelyn Jones, Joseph "Lane" Jones and Alexis Jones. Several nieces, nephews, extended family and church family also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Mt. Zion Community Church with the Reverend Joe Carrico officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before service time. Burial will follow funeral services in the Mt. Zion Church Cemetery.

Although flowers are appreciated, the family suggests donations be made in her memory to a favorite charity of choice.
