Walter Dunford, 88, of Ivanhoe VA, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024. Born January 13, 1936, in Ivanhoe VA, he was the son of the late Walter A. and Helen Bowers Dunford

He loved to hunt Ginseng. He loved children and enjoyed giving them lollipops.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Dovie Malinda Dunford sisters Mary Marie Dunford, Helen Aline Blair, Willie Louise Davis, Carolyn Sue Stroupe, Phyllis Juanita Sayers, Debra Faye Ruiz, brother, William Edward Dunford.

Survivors include his wife Mary Dunford of the home, three children, Michael Wayne Dunford of Baltimore MD, Mary Marie Hallameyer and husband Paul of Ivanhoe VA, Walter Dunford Jr of Annapolis MD, four sisters, Gene Alice Stroupe, of Fries VA, Frances Maxine Stroupe of Wytheville VA, Edna Evelyn Furguson of Radford VA, Patricia Ann Goodson of Wytheville VA, Janice Darlene Funk of Ivanhoe VA, grandchildren, Michael Wayne Dunford Jr, Robert Michael Dunford, Brian Wayne Dunford, Jessica Leigh Dunford, Charles Christopher Lednum,  Paul Michael Patrick Hallameyer Jr, Michelle Lynn Hallameyer,  Katrina Ann Dunford, Walter Franklin Dunford III, Fallon Dunford, several Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 11 am at the Fellowship Baptist Church with Pastor Andrew Davis officiating; burial will follow at the Odd Fellows cemetery in Ivanhoe; friends and family will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers make donations to Fellowship Baptist Church Family Center.

The family will receive friends on Monday November 11, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Home in Austinville.
