William Kenneth "Bill" Jones, age 78 of Rural Retreat, VA passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017.  He was born in Smyth Co., VA on June 21, 1939 the son of the late Roy Daniel "Dan" Jones and Faye Irene Woods Jones.  Bill was a retired employee of Sprint with 37 years of service.  He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mildred Joyce Jones; brothers, Robert Daniel "Bobby" Jones, Roger Harold Jones and Freddie Neal Jones.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Sue Long Jones; son, Michael G. Jones and wife Kim; granddaughters, Bergandy Noel and husband Mark all of Rural Retreat, Abbagail Boles and husband Garth of Galax, VA, grandson, Scottie Johnson of Crockett, VA; great-grandchildren, Bailee, Dixon, JessiAnn, Tinzley, Kasen; brother, Jimmy R. Jones of Rural Retreat; sisters, Mary Ann Coley of Marion, VA, Frances Sturgill of Rural Retreat; special pets, Red and Toby; several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Lindsey Memorial Chapel with Mr. Roger Dalton, Mr. Mark Noel and Rev. Mike Sage officiating.  Inurnment will follow at a later date.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Carrington Place at Rural Retreat, 514 North Main Street, Rural Retreat, VA  24368.
