Reverend William "Bill" Franklin Monday, age 88, of Wytheville, VA, the Piney Community,
went to be with his Lord Jesus and Savior on Sunday, January 15, 2017. He was born January 3, 1929 in Wythe County, the son of the late Samuel and Etta Mae Aker Monday and was preceded in death by his wife, Freda Fogus Monday; son Howard Muncie Monday; two sisters, Beatrice Akers and Dorothy Myers; three brothers, Thomas Monday, Alfred Monday and Joseph "Jay" Monday. He was a graduate of Emmanuel College and a member of the Appalachian Pentecostal Holiness Church Conference. He was a charter member of the Baker's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Reverend Monday was licensed by the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, Appalachian Conference in 1958 and was Ordained in 1962. He has been a Pastor in the Conference for 52 years until he retired. Churches he pastored were Max Meadows PH Church, Ivanhoe PH Church, Marion PH Church, Speedwell PH Church, Floyd PH Church, Mitchell's Chapel PH Church, Woodlawn PH Church, Charleston, WV and Piedmont PH Church. He was retired from Kroger with 20 years of service. He also worked as a farmer and a carpenter. Bill enjoyed three mission trips to Israel. He is survived by his son, William Randolph Monday of Porter's Crossroads; three grandchildren, Brad, Jody and Kerry; eight great- grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Monday of Wytheville and Audrey Monday of Max Meadows; brother-in-law, Charles Myers of Wytheville; two special nieces and caregivers, Renetta McPeak and Chrissy Thompson;
several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Bakers Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Bishop Glennard Quesenberry, Reverend Ed Richardson and Reverend Jim Tunnell officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church or at the home of Rev. J.C. and Renetta McPeak, 922 Sheffey School Road, Wytheville, VA at any time. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Appalachian Pentecostal Holiness Church Conference Cemetery, Dublin, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church Missions Department.
