William Gilpin, age 82, of Bastian, VA passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026. He was born December 25, 1943 in Bluefield WV, the son of the late Howard and Maude Hawkins Gilpin.

William was a member of Rocky Gap United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing the guitar and loved to watch his chickens.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Gilpin, one brother, Truman Gilpin, one sister, Reathel Drew.

Survivors include one daughter, Lisa Phillips of Mt. Pleasant, NC; two sons, Kevin and Lisa Gilpin of Pulaski, VA, Dwayne Gilpin and Kimberly Clark of Dublin, VA; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Hallman, Jeffrey Phillips, Matthew Gilpin and Christopher Gilpin; one grand-grandchild, Parker Hallman; several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 12 noon at Rocky Gap Methodist Church with Pastor Rodney Lawson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11 am until service time at the church.

Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Grandview Memory Gardens, 38659 Gov. G.C. Peery Highway, Bluefield, VA 24605.
