William Harry Goodnight, age 82, of Rural Retreat, VA, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023.  He was born in West Virginia on August 9, 1941 to the late William H. Goodnight and Lena Hivner Goodnight .

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mattie Jean Harrington Goodnight. He was a US Army Veteran, He served in Vietnam.

He is survived by step-daughters, Tammy Barker & husband Don of Rural Retreat, VA, Darla Wilds & husband John of Forsyth, GA; grandchildren, Mandy Owens(Chad), Matthew Wilds(Ashli), Jennifer Norman(Travis), Caleb Wilds(Molly), Samantha Greer(Troy); great-grandchildren, Micah, Asher, Leila, Ellie, Averi, Harper, Evan, Jackson, Owen, Tilli, Cannon.

Private service Thursday December 7, 2023 at 1 P.M. at Blue Springs Cemetery with Military Rites by the American Legion Post #229.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the American Legion.
