William "Billy" Ross Jones, Sr., age 79, of Wytheville, VA passed away Friday, June 30, 2017. He was born August 23, 1937 in Seaboard, North Carolina, the son of the late Robert and Mattie Kee Jones.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Faye Vinson Jones and his brother, Bobby Jones. He was a military veteran of the Navy and Marines. Billy retired from Heilig Meyers Furniture Store as store manager after over 30 years. He also retired from Sentry Oil Company. He loved fishing in the Outer Banks and enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Robbie and Cecilia Jones of Bristol, VA, Bill and Debbie Jones of Wytheville, VA, Rusty and Chris Jones of Winston-Salem, NC, Paul and Renae Jones of Wytheville, VA; six grandchildren, Carmen Harper, Trey Jones, Jamie Jones, Ashley Jones, Allyson Jones and Elizabeth Jones; three great grandchildren, Nate Harper, Caroline Harper and Annie Harper; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; two sisters-in-law, Jeannette Parker, Martha "Bill" and James T. Long, Jr.; special friend, Bobby Green.

Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Barnett Funeral Chapel. American Legion Post #9 will conduct military rites.

The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home or at the home of Bill and Debbie at any time.
