Willie Ruth Shores Corvin, 94, lifelong resident of Wytheville, peacefully began her journey to the golden coasts of heaven on Friday, August 12, 2022. Willie was in the hands of the caring staff at Carrington Place on Holston Road when she passed.

Born February 1, 1928, Willie was an avid reader, and she was a fierce lover of Elvis Presley's music. She enjoyed backyard barbecues and picnics with neighbors, friends, and family. Willie also enjoyed the piano, perm parties with her sisters, and the company of her black cats Inky and Dinky and dog Little Red. Willie was a generous person, and she donated to many different causes. After retiring as an aid from the Wytheville Health Department, Willie could often be found tending to her flower gardens and refilling the bird feeders.

Willie was married for 52 years to Glen Corvin, who passed away on December 25, 2003. In addition to her husband, Willie was preceded in death by her parents William "Will" Porter Shores and Ruth Irvin Shores, and siblings Elizabeth "Libby" Whisman (Jack), Martha Corvin (Worley), and twins W.P. Shores, Jr. and Addie Shores. She was also preceded in death by six brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, nephew Tommy Corvin, and great-nephew Kenneth Kegley.

Willie is survived by sister-in-law Mary Ann Corvin, several nieces and nephews, and extended family. She is also survived by close friend and neighbor Frances Stowers and the Stowers family, especially Faith, for whom Willie had much love and affection. Willie was grateful for Faith's help in navigating life's trials and logistics that come with getting older and for the unconditional love offered by Faith and her family.

A memorial service to honor Willie's memory will be held on Tuesday, August 16, at 2 p.m. at Barnett Funeral Home. Anyone wishing to visit with the family should do so in the hour preceding the service. Those so desiring are encouraged to make a charitable donation in Willie's memory to an organization of their choice. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, VA is serving the Corvin family.
