Frieda Jane Repass Hanshew age 72 of Ceres VA passed away Saturday August 15, 2020. She was born April 16, 1948 in Ceres VA the daughter of the late Roger A & Lettie Bruce Repass. Frieda was a lifelong member of the Bethany Methodist Church in Ceres having served as treasurer for many years. Frieda was a homemaker, farmer, loving mother & Nana to her grandsons Thomas & Jacob. She was a 1966 graduate of Rich valley High School, she was a member of the Ceres young homemakers club, & she worked at the Ceres Cannery for 13 years. Frieda was a devoted member of the Ceres Ruritan Club for 16 years where she had perfect attendance & served as president for 4 years. Frieda enjoyed being with and caring for her family, especially her grandsons, she  loved to cook, go on picnics, she loved gardening, growing flowers, and was devoted to her community, being active in most activities and gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 54 years Thomas Daniel "Jake" Hanshew, her sisters Mallie R Tibbs & Ester R Umbarger & her brothers Arten L Repass & Albert E Repass.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 18, 2020 at 7:00 PM at the Bland Funeral Chapel with Rev Larry Patton officiating, the family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM until service time. A graveside service for burial will be held Wednesday August 19, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Bethany Methodist Church Cemetery in Ceres VA. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Bethany Methodist Church in care of Tillie Umbarger in Ceres VA.
