Lois Davis Neal, 88, of Rocky Gap, VA passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Rocky Gap, Virginia on October 9, 1932. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 68 years, James Richard Neal, her parents John and Rose Davis, her two sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Lee and Bobby Tickle and Eva and Buford Tuggle and her two brothers and sisters-in-law Glen and Marie Davis and Ray and Mavis Davis.
Lois was a graduate of Rocky Gap High School and West Virginia Business College. She was a member of the Rocky Gap United Methodist Church. In her younger years she played piano at church, worked faithfully in the Rocky Gap United Methodist Women and the Rocky Gap PTA.
Lois was a devoted matriarch making her family the center of her world. She loved to cross stitch and sew. She also enjoyed reading, playing games, cards, working jigsaw puzzles, feeding her hummingbirds and gardening. She was always happy in the kitchen cooking and baking and was famous for her "chocolate cake" and chicken salad.
Lois often said her family was her greatest treasure. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Jamie and Guy Boone of Rocky Gap, VA and Alice and Troy Maneval of Berwick, PA, her son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Beth Neal of Harrisonburg, VA; six grandchildren, Holly (Matt) Menzel of Marietta, OH, Sara (David) Maxey of Rocky Gap, VA, Hannah (Kenny) Ellerbee of Madison, WI, Catie (Will) Rhodes of Roanoke, VA, Ross Neal of New York, NY and Trace Maneval of Berwick, PA.; seven great grandchildren, Grace and Jada Menzel, Ty and Drew Maxey, Luke, Brynna, and James Ellerbee and Caroline Rhodes and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
In keeping with her wishes her service will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Bishop's Chapel Cemetery (donations payable to Deborah VanBlaricom, Post Office Box 245, Rocky Gap, VA 24366) or Rocky Gap United Methodist Church, PO Box 68, Rocky Gap, VA 24366. The family wishes to thank the dedicated, caring and compassionate workers of the Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia.
